Paula Pinto

Vibrating colour compositions and an out of the ordinary use of the painting medium as a flat element itself, abstract shapes resembling scattered fragments in hectic dynamic compositions giving the sensation of movement. Debris in the dust, other fragments of unrecognizable objects seem to have been ripped away by an unknown force and thrown into an undefined space, floating in the sky swirling around in concrete landscapes. Visual sensation as they defy gravity appearing to be swiped by the wind.
Radioactive gases, bright smoke pulsing with energy. Explosions, the big bang, power to destroy to rebuild again, from destruction to the creation of the Universe.
Following their suggestive form and shape, re-used materials are on my pieces from installation to painting. The recycled medium is dried paint turned into solid objects. Something that was considered waste becomes the subject in the painting.
The sublime melody in chaos, the joy of life or the total angst of living – these pieces can define my hectic style of work itself by its energy and playfulness, but massively intentional with raw and intuitive feeling and emotion. A reflection of my own emotional states and uncertainties, but rather than making it too personal I transfer this feelings and moods to an abstract global language that can be reached by all.
It’s important that these paintings don’t necessarily have a meaning, leaving space for me and anyone to interpret them as they feel them.
