Al Pritchard

From the age of 14 –19 on weekends and occasional weeknights I would find myself walking home drunk through the dark streets of my hometown Nailsea. On these solitary walks I would entertain myself by making up short stories about the strange experiences that happened in the nighttime town. Noir Nailsea was always set in the dark, the world cast in a constant shadow by the moon, on a collision course with earth. The semi-fictitious short stories were never realised as a film, TV series, comic book, animation or novel but simply an idea that boiled down to a dark town with a giant moon looming above it.
The small-scale models act as a way of bridging the gap between daydream and reality, the atmosphere captured, hinting at endless narrative. Made from basic materials plasticine, cardboard as well as railway model crafts, the viewer is invited to journey into my dark adolescent experiences.
